Share Data Connection

Tethering is a useful feature that allows you to share the cellular data connection of your tablet with another device such as a laptop. By switching on this feature, you can browse the internet on any device using the data connection of your tablet or phone. If you find no Wi-Fi for using the internet, then you can use the cellular data connection on your tablet to share this connection. However, you must be aware of the various criteria set by the carrier related to tethering when using this feature.

Failing to do so can cause you to lose money as most carriers incur charges for tethering amongst devices. There are three main types of tethering – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB tethering. You can use your tablet to tether its data connection for devices such as a laptop or phone. For this purpose, you can use any type of tethering method to successfully connect with another device. Below is how to set up tethering and share data using your Android tablet.

Tethering Using Wi-Fi

You can easily tether your data connection using the Wi-Fi connection on your tablet. To set up tethering via WiFi in your tablet, go to Settings > More and open Tethering and Portable Hotspot. Tap on the Setup WiFi Hotspot option to configure the Wi-Fi hotspot of your tablet.

You can change the SSID and password, but it is better not to change the security option WPA2 PSK. Tap on Save and then connect any of your devices into the hotspot for accessing the data connection.

Tethering via Bluetooth

Another method that you can use to tether the mobile data on your tablet is through Bluetooth. If your laptop has Bluetooth, then you can easily connect it to your tablet and share its data connection.

To enable tethering via Bluetooth, go to Settings > More > Tethering and Portable Hotspot. Now simply tick on the box near the Bluetooth Tethering option to enable this feature. However, you need to make sure that the Bluetooth is set to Discoverable to use this feature on a laptop or other device.

Tethering Using USB

You can also tether your mobile data with another device using a USB cable. To setup USB tethering, go to Settings > More, access Tethering and Portable Hotspot, and tick the box near the USB Tethering option to enable the feature.

When you connect your tablet to a laptop or computer using a USB with the tethering feature enabled, a new network adapter will be visible in the options, which you can use to connect to the internet.
